JLT Park | Dubai
JLT Park is the main public green space of Jumeirah Lakes Towers, set behind Cluster Q on the edge of one of the community's three man-made lakes. Open lawns, palm trees and waterside paths make it a quiet escape among the towers, and residents use it for early-morning runs, evening walks and weekend picnics. There is something for every age. The children's playground is split into a toddler zone and an area for older kids, a running track loops through the park and along the lake, and a small open-air amphitheatre sits beside a wide lawn that hosts community events. Basketball and football courts and outdoor fitness stations round it off for the sporty crowd. Entry is free and the park is open 24 hours a day. Come early in the morning or late in the afternoon, when it is cooler and the sunset lights up the towers and the water. Community events in the amphitheatre are announced on jlt.ae. On hot days, bring water and a hat for the children, as parts of the playground get plenty of sun.
House of Hype | Dubai
House of Hype is an indoor, interactive digital playground on Level 1 of The Dubai Mall, tucked into the Fountain Views wing just above Social Distrikt. Spread over roughly 100,000 square feet, it is a chain of themed worlds built from light, sound, digital screens and live performers, and most visitors spend one to two hours wandering through. The best-known rooms include The Box, a space hung with crystal chandeliers that play with light; Kawaii Kave, a giant pastel ball pit; Electric Jungle, a glowing forest with live performers; and Pixel Garden, where digital flowers bloom and shift across the walls and floor. Hidden rooms and photo booths along the route make it a favourite with teenagers, families and groups of friends. It is open daily from 10 AM to 10 PM, with last entry around 8:30 PM. Tickets start at AED 149, children under three go free, and under-12s must come with an adult. The closest parking is Fountain Views (P3) at The Dubai Mall. Check session times and current prices on the official website before you go.
Riverland | Dubai
Riverland sits at the heart of Dubai Parks and Resorts in Jebel Ali: a waterfront promenade that links Motiongate, Legoland and Real Madrid World, and a destination in its own right for an evening stroll, dinner or a bit of shopping. It opened with the resort in 2016, and its design is built around the idea of travelling through time and place. There are four themed zones. The French Village recreates an old European town with stone houses, cobbled lanes and a clock tower. The Boardwalk brings back a 1950s American seaside with bright colours and vintage cars. India Gate, with its arches and domes, gathers restaurants and stalls inspired by the subcontinent, while The Peninsula lines the water with restaurants and cafes looking out over the canal. Street performers and seasonal events such as the food festival run through the year. For the new season, which began on 7 October 2026, entry to Riverland costs AED 25. According to the latest published schedule it opens from 10am to 10pm Sunday to Thursday and until 11pm on Friday and Saturday, with changes possible on public holidays. Evenings are the best time to visit, when the air cools down and the lights along the canal come on. If you have a ticket for one of the neighbouring parks, spend the day on the rides and come to Riverland for dinner.
Motiongate | Dubai
If you have ever wanted to walk onto a film set, Motiongate Dubai is built around that idea. The Hollywood-inspired theme park opened in December 2016 inside Dubai Parks and Resorts in Jebel Ali, and its streets are dressed like working movie studios, with each area dedicated to a studio or film franchise. The park is split into themed zones. Studio Central greets you at the entrance; the DreamWorks zone is fully indoors and air-conditioned, which makes it a favourite with families on hot days; Columbia Pictures and Lionsgate bring the bigger thrill rides; and Smurfs Village is designed for younger children. Between the roller coasters and gentler family rides there are live shows and street performers throughout the day. Dubai Parks and Resorts reopened for the new season on 7 October 2026 after its summer break, with Motiongate tickets starting from AED 295 online; gate prices are usually higher, and a Quick Pass is available for shorter queues. The park generally opens at 11am and closes between 8pm and 9pm depending on the day and season, so check the official site for that day's hours. Legoland Dubai, Real Madrid World and Riverland are right next door, making it easy to plan a full day out. Arrive early to beat the queues on the most popular rides.
Global Village | Dubai
Global Village is Dubai's long-running open-air cultural park, open every year from mid-autumn to late spring off Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road. Each season brings together dozens of country pavilions, each built in its own architectural style and filled with crafts, textiles, spices and street food, so a single evening can take you from South Asian bazaars to Turkish, Iranian, Egyptian and East Asian stalls. Season 31 opened on 14 October 2026 and runs until May 2027. The park usually opens from 4pm to midnight, staying open until 1am on weekend nights and public holidays. Tuesdays, except public holidays, are reserved for families and ladies. Tickets cost AED 25 on weekdays and AED 30 at weekends and on public holidays; children under three, visitors aged 65 and over, and people of determination enter free. Tickets are sold on the official website and app and at the gates. Beyond the pavilions there is the Carnaval fun fair with dozens of rides, a main stage for concerts and cultural shows, fireworks on selected nights and hundreds of food kiosks from around the world. For a calmer visit, go early on a weekday evening, wear comfortable shoes and plan parking or the dedicated buses in advance. Check the official site for the day's timings and programme before you go.
